Are we wise in our own eyes?

Good Morning everyone! I pray that you are having a blessed day.

I want to share with you something that I believe will bless you.

Genesis 3:1 KJV
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

Genesis 3:1 CEB (Common English Bible)
The snake was the most intelligent of all the wild animals that the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say that you shouldn't eat from any tree in the garden?"

I noticed in my study bible where the word "intelligent" or "subtil"  is that it said it sounded similar to "naked".

So, I looked up the word "subtil"  Strong's # 6175 and it says the word "subtil" translates from Hebrew "arum" (which means: crafty, shrewd, sensible)

I also looked up the word "naked" Strong's # 6174 it says the word "naked" translates from "arom" (which means naked).

This really hit me because even though this snake  was  so "intelligent" or "subtil" he was "naked" before God!

This snake was created by God yet he thought that he could still exalt himself above his Creator.

I want to bring to your attention some more scriptures that I believe the Holy Spirit brought to mind.

Isaiah 29:14 KJV
14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.

Isaiah 29:14 CEB
I will go  on doing amazing things to these people , shocking and startling things. The wisdom of their wise will perish, and the discernment of their discerning will be hidden.

This truly struck me because we can become wise or intelligent in our own eyes yet, we can still be foolish or naked before God.

The other night at church they were talking about discerning whose voice we are listening to. There are several voices that we hear; God's voice (speaking to our spirit), satan's voice, and the soulish voice from the flesh (mind, will, emotions, intellect).

You may not think it matters whose voice you listen to but, it does.

Sometimes, we form our own intellectual opinion of a situation when it is truly a foolish opinion because it was formed from our limited understanding.

All true wisdom and understanding comes from God and what may look "bad" may not truly be "bad" and what looks "good" may not truly be "good".

You can have the knowledge of good and evil and yet still not have "WISDOM"

2 Timothy 3:7 KJV
Ever learning, but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth

Do you want truth? Do you want wisdom? Where does it come from?

It comes from God and God alone.

Proverbs 9:10 KJV
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Solomon was the wisest man in the Old Testament and he got wisdom from GOD.

I think sometimes we get so use to depending on our own intellect that we fail to ask God. We use God as a last resort. King Saul did that. He would always come to God as a last resort and because of this his crown was taken and the lives of many endangered.

You know the snake,he was intelligent just as we are intelligent. God's creation is beautiful but, because of sin we became corrupt.

We can become so wise in our own eyes that we are naked or foolish before God.

We can look and see a situation but alot of times we only look at the appearance of a situation.

Adam and Eve did the very same thing. They disobeyed God and chose their own will over God's.

They chose to be wise in their own eyes and became naked before God and each other

Genesis 3:7 CEB
Then they both saw clearly and knew that they were naked. So, they sewed fig leaves together and made garments for themselves.

What they saw was only the surface. They saw the faults and mistakes. They didn't see the truth. Just because they ate the fruit and now had the knowledge of good and evil did not mean that had the wisdom to discern the situation and when they heard true wisdom "God" walking through the garden they hid themselves from Him.

With the loss of innocence comes shame.

With the knowledge of good and evil comes a whole lot of responsibility that they weren't prepared for.

The snake knew what would happen. He knew because he knew that he was naked before God. God saw how foolish and defeated the snake was but, to the un-discerning the snake looked marvelous and intelligent. To the un-discerning he looked sensible and wise.

Only when we have true wisdom from God can we discern the snake.

I want to share with you a few scriptures on what the Word says about wisdom.

1 Corinthians 1:18-31 CEB
The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are being destroyed. But it is the power of God for those of us who are being saved. It is written in scripture: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will reject the intelligence of the intelligent. Where are the wise? Where are the legal experts? Where are today's debaters? Hasn't God made the wisdom of the world foolish? In God's wisdom, he determined that the world wouldn't come to know him through its wisdom. Instead, God was pleased to save those who believe through the foolishness of preaching. Jews ask for signs, and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, which is a scandal to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles. But to those who are called- both Jews and Greeks- Christ is God's power and God's wisdom. This is because the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. Look at your situation when you were called, brothers and sisters! By ordinary human standards not many were wise, not many were powerful, not many were from the upper class. But God chose what the world considers foolish to shame the wise. God chose what the world considers weak to shame the strong. And God chose what the world considers low-class and low-life- what is considered to be nothing- to reduce what is considered to be something to nothing. So no human being  can brag in God's presence. It is because of God that you are in Christ Jesus. He became wisdom from God for us. This means that he made us righteous and holy, and he delivered us. This is consistent with what was written: The one who brags should brag in the Lord!

The only wisdom we receive is through Christ Jesus.

The cross and the blood is sufficient for our sins.

(Let me clarify something about repentance)

To truly repent means not only to "turn from" but, to make it right with who you wronged. The person doesn't have to "know" that you wronged them.

"You" do know and only "you" can make it right. Your salvation depends on solely you and your repentance. The same goes for me and anyone else!

Let's say if you lied to someone you need to go and tell the truth and ask forgiveness from the person you lied to. (Matthew 5:23-24)

If you committed adultery (Jesus says it doesn't have to be an act that if you have lust in your heart towards a man or a woman then you have already committed adultery in your heart). (Matthew 5:28)

You need to not only repent before God but tell the truth to the person that you wronged (your spouse) and ask forgiveness.

We fail to remember that.

We fail to understand that.

In the word it says that anything done in the dark will be brought to light. (Luke 8:17)

So, if you have repented and yet you are trying to keep things hidden from the person you wronged....

Can I ask you something?

Are you truly repentant or are you trying to justify what you have done by focusing on others? Are you keeping it in the hidden places...In the dark.

Have you sown a false covering of fig leaves together with your own lies and deceit.

That is what Adam and Eve did.

I have always thought this joke was so funny so I thought I would share it.

"Adam blamed Eve and Eve blamed the snake and the snake didn't have a leg to stand on."

If we blame our actions on others or on the snake (who is defeated) then we remain foolish before God.

HE SEES EVERYTHING! Our sins will remain as scarlet unless we put them under the blood. Then they will be white as snow.

Come out from under pride, shame, and deceit.

Come out from whatever it is that holds you and grab hold of true wisdom.

Let God cloth you with righteousness. Let God wash you and make you whole. God doesn't do just a half-way job. He can and will heal us physically but what is most important is that we get our souls "whole".

Let Him make you whole spiritually because let me just say there is TRUE freedom when we allow Him to do that!

I just know God truly has a love for you and a desire to see you complete. He desires to see this burden of sin lifted from your life!

Let's not waste time today in worldly sorry and lets have godly sorrow and repent. Let's let the blood wash away this blemish from our garments because without the blood we will never enter into the Kingdom and we will never receive true wisdom.

1 John 1:9King James Version (KJV)

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

God bless you and may God's peace remain with you always.

Love In Christ,
Sister Sarah
